Kunar Youths and New Generation Peace Jirga
The Youths and New Generation Peace Jirga was held in Kunar province on October 14, 2020 in Asadabad city. The Jirga was conducted by the YCGP with the presence of hundreds of young people and representatives of the new generation who participated from 15 administrative units of the province.
The Kunar Youths and New
Generation Peace Jirga consisted of three sections, which included the
inauguration, the work of the working committees, the presentation of the
working committee's decision, and the presentation of the final resolution of
the Jirga. At the beginning, Sajidullah Afghanmal, in charge of holding commission
of the Youths and New Generation peace Jirga of the province, started the
program and added that the Afghan people are undoubtedly thirsty for peace and
the warring parties should listen to the voice of peace and respond positively.
Maiwand Hemmat Shinwari, a
member of the leadership of the YCGP, emphasized the role of the youths in the
peace process, adding that the youths of Afghanistan have made the greatest
sacrifices and that the youths should be more engaged in the peace process and
their voices should be reflected more.
Speaking on behalf of the
youth of Kunar province, Professor Rahatullah Sapi stressed that the Afghan
peace process must end successfully and that the participation of the Afghan
youth in this process must be meaningful.
In the second part of the
program, the work of the working committees began and the members of the Jirga
exchanged views on six issues. The views of the members of the Jirga unified
and in the third part of the program were presented by the officials of each
committee. Meanwhile, the secretaries of the twelve committees drafted and
presented the final resolution of the Youth and New Generation Peace Jirga of
Kunar Province.
Kunar Youths and New Generation Peace Jirga resolution
The Youths and New Generation Peace Jirga was held in Kunar Province, Asadabad city, on October 14, 2020, by presence of hundreds of youths. This Jirga was conducted by YCGP in which representatives of the new generation and youths from 15 administrative units of the province participated, and declared their decisions and demands to the Government of Afghanistan, the Islamic Movement of Taliban and the International Community, as following:
1. We, the youths of Kunar Province (men and women), declare our strong support for the current peace process.
2. We, the youths of Kunar province, call on the government and the Taliban to reach to peace through intra-Afghan negotiations.
3. In the current process of peace talks, we call on the government and the Taliban to ensure ceasefire.
4. We call on the neighboring countries to cooperate in the peace process of the country, so the process will be successful.
5. We call on the government and the Taliban to be honest in the peace process.
6. We call on the government and the Taliban Movement to preserve the values and achievements of the past two decades during the peace talks.
7. We call on the International Community to encourage the involved parties to ensure that the peace talks lead to a positive outcome.
8. We strongly urge the Islamic Movement of Taliban and the government to refrain from any problems or challenges to the peace process and make the process successful.
9. The International Community must honestly support the Afghan peace process.
10. We, the women's rights activists in Kunar province, call on the government and the Taliban to preserve the women's rights in peace talks.
