Consultative Jirga with the youths of Shinwari

The Shinwari Youths Consultative Jirga, conducted by the YCGP, was held in the Ghani Khil district of Nangarhar province on October 23, 2020. The Jirga was convened on peace and intra-Afghan negotiations with the participation of tribal elders and youths representatives from various Shinwari`s districts.

Maiwand Hemmat Shinwari, who is in charge of holding the meeting, said: "While peace talks between the parties involved are ongoing, the war is intensifying in different parts of the country and is taking victims from the people of Afghanistan." He added that the Afghan people want an end to the war and an immediate ceasefire in the country.

Khalil Ahmad Matin, deputy head of the YCGP, called on the parties to end the psychological, financial and human suffering impacts which imposed to the Afghans due to the ongoing war. He added that only Afghans are victims in this war and the current war in the country has no legitimacy for any of the parties involved.

Ehsanullah Hekmat, a member of the leadership of the YCGP, spoke about the achievements of the YCGP, adding that a number of people have opposed peace in the country for personal and group interests and are trying to disrupt the process.


Batur Khan Shinwari, chairman of the Shinwari Youth Council, added that the people of Shinwari are ready to make any sacrifice in order to strengthen peace in the country. Saqib Shinwari, Ulfatullah Mohebzai and Haji Malek Yar Mohammad, one of the tribal elders of Shinwari, mentioned the damage caused by the wars and expressed their demands to the Afghan Government and the Islamic Movement of Taliban to end the oppositions.

At the end of the meeting, the leadership of the YCGP visited the site of the car bomb explosion that took place on 12 of Mizan, 1399 and killed tens of our compatriots, and then went to the house of Bismillah Jan Shinwari, an umpire of the National Cricket Team, on behalf of the victims, which he lost 7 members of his family due to the explosion, expressing their condolences.

Shinwar districts of Nangarhar province used to be the center of the fight against ISIS, which has claimed thousands of families over the past few years. Achin district, one of the districts of Shinwari, was previously controlled by ISIS, and in 2017, US forces used the world's largest non-nuclear bomb, known as the "mother of bombs" in the area.
